President Meets with Road Development Authority Engineers

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake affirmed that the government fully acknowledges the importance of a trained and skilled human resource base in developing an expressway network aimed at fostering national economic growth.

The President made these remarks during a discussion held yesterday afternoon (26) at the Presidential Secretariat with engineers of the Road Development Authority (RDA).

He noted that, in recent years, the departure of many RDA engineers from the country had created significant challenges for the government in implementing development projects. The President stressed the need to find solutions to these issues in a manner that does not hinder the continuity of the country’s economic stability.

A detailed discussion was held on the challenges faced by RDA engineers.

Particular attention was drawn to the long-delayed promotions postponed for several years due to administrative complications and the salary disparities that exist between the engineering sector and the engineers of the Road Development Authority. Accordingly, the President instructed officials of the Ministry of Finance to identify and propose feasible measures to provide prompt and fair solutions to these issues.

Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Rathnayake, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena, Secretary to the Ministry Kapila C. K. Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Harshana Suriyapperuma, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, RDA Chairman T. Paskaran, Director General K. W. Kandambi and a group of RDA engineers participated in the discussion.
