Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka partners with Parenthood Global

December, 31, 2024

In an exciting initiative, Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka has partnered with Parenthood Global to conduct a study that will celebrate and promote organizations that prioritize parent inclusivity. This collaboration highlights the critical role of parenting, emphasizing the need for supporting work environments that allows parents to thrive personally and professionally.  By adopting parent-friendly practices, businesses can foster a more inclusive and caring culture, leading to improved employee engagement.

Kshanika Ratnayake, Director, and CEO of Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka, shared, " Our vision of creating a great place to work 'For All' extends to every demography, including parents, whose unique needs are often overlooked in organizational strategies. Parenthood is a journey filled with unique challenges and opportunities, and we believe that organizations have a significant role to play in supporting working parents”. This partnership with Parenthood Global is a step towards supporting a positive parenting experience that will nurture the future generations of Sri Lanka. Together, the initiative aims to inspire organizations to understand parents perspective of the workplace experience and improve workplace conditions, to drive positive culture. The study will establish a local benchmark for the parent employee standpoint, define what makes an organization great for parents, and highlight success stories that can inspire others. “We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and look forward to creating a more inclusive and encouraging workplace culture for parents across Sri Lanka”

As an extension, Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka and Parenthood Global intend to collaborate on projects to engage youth, raising awareness about selecting a place to work with strong cultures that advocate a positive family lifestyle. This affiliation reinforces Parenthood Global's mission to shape parent-inclusive workplace policies for a better future.

Additionally, Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka was a strategic partner for the Parent Inclusive Workplaces Summit held in November 2024, that brought together experts and thought leaders to discuss how organizations can better support their parent employees. Kshanika Ratnayake, CEO of Great Place To Work® Sri Lanka, was featured in a panel discussion on Building Sustainable Corporate Culture, offering insights into how inclusivity, particularly for parents, can help create a strong and resilient work culture.

The study, which began in November 2024 and was launched at the summit, is currently open for registration until May 2025 and will conclude in July 2025. The results will be unveiled in October 2025, with the Best Workplaces™ for Parents being felicitated at the next Parent-Inclusive Workplaces Summit.

2023 research by Maven and Great Place To Work Inc. found that one in four working parents in the US experiences burnout, with mothers 28% more likely to suffer. However, there's a scarcity of local data in Sri Lanka, which could be addressed through the analysis of local insights. Organizations can align with this cause by first understanding their parent employees experience. This can be achieved by undertaking the Great Place To Work Assessment, which includes the Trust Index Employee Survey, Culture Audit and highlighting parent-friendly workplace practices. Participants will gain valuable insights and have the chance to be featured in Sri Lanka’s inaugural list of Best Workplaces for Parents in 2025.
