Indian Banks Allowed to Offer INR Loans to Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal

India has taken a new step to boost regional financial cooperation, with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approving regulatory changes that allow Indian banks to issue loans in Indian rupees (INR) to borrowers in Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal.

The revision enables both Indian banks and their foreign branches to extend INR credit to individuals and institutions in the three countries.
