Information Communication Industry Sector Council and XpressJobs Sign MoU to Launch Specialized Job Portal

August, 5, 2024

The Information Communication Industry Sector Council (ICTISC) and XpressJobs are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a dedicated job portal, accessible at https://ictisc.lk/careers/. This initiative aims to enhance employment opportunities for students with National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) by providing a streamlined platform for job seekers within the Information Communication Technology sector.

The ICTISC, an industry-led and industry-driven organization, operates as a guarantee limited company and is recognized and supported by the government. It is tasked with the responsibility of developing highly skilled individuals within the industry. The Council's Board of Directors comprises industry leaders from various companies and government entities, and it also includes full-time staff and projects conducted in partnership with other organizations.

The MoU was officially signed on the 1st of August, 2024, by Sampath Thrimavithana, Chairman of ICTISC, and Dr. Oshadie Korale, Chief Operating Officer of XpressJobs. This partnership is particularly significant as it addresses a long-standing challenge of aligning educational outcomes with industry demands. By utilizing a data-driven approach, the collaboration aims to provide educational institutions with valuable insights into the current and future demands of the job market. This initiative leverages existing data from XpressJobs to help bridge the gap between supply and demand in the labor market, ensuring that NVQ graduates are equipped with the skills that are in demand by employers.

"This partnership is a significant step forward in bridging the gap between skilled graduates and employers," said  Sampath Thrimavithana, Chairman at ICTISC. "By leveraging XpressJobs' platform, we are providing a dedicated space for candidates to find relevant job opportunities, which will ultimately support the growth of our industry and workforce."

XpressJobs offers a unique feature: a CV-less system designed for skilled labor candidates, particularly those from remote areas who may not have access to a computer or the skills to create a CV. This system allows candidates to apply for jobs using a simplified form customized by XpressJobs according to the specific job requirements posted by recruiters, companies, and clients.

Dr. Oshadie Korale, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at XpressJobs, added, "We are excited to collaborate with ICTISC and other sector councils to enhance the employment prospects of NVQ graduates. Our technology, including the CV-less application system, not only streamlines the hiring process but also ensures that employers can easily find candidates with the right skills and qualifications."

The specialized job portal will feature positions from across the different sector councils, allowing students and job seekers to search and apply for roles in their specific fields of study. This initiative underscores the commitment of both ICTISC and XpressJobs to support the professional growth of NVQ graduates and meet the industry's evolving needs.

Under the MoU, ICTISC will utilize XpressJobs' advanced recruitment technology to create a specialized job board that integrates job data from XpressJobs. This job board will cater specifically to the ICT sector, providing a comprehensive listing of available positions for candidates. This platform also plans extend to other skill sectors, including the Construction Industry Skills Sector Council (CISC), Manufacturing Engineering Services Sector Council (MESSCO), Tourism Industry Sector Council (TISC), Agriculture Industry Sector Council (AISC), Automobile Sector Council (AIC), and the Health Committee.
