A consortium of companies led by John Keells Holdings PLC has made a financial contribution of Rs. 400 million to the Government’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, established to provide relief to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The contributions were made as follows:
South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) Rs. 100 million, Nations Trust Bank Rs. 100 million, Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd Rs. 50 million. Jaykay Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd Rs. 50 million, Union Assurance Rs. 50 million and Elephant House Rs. 50 million.
The relevant cheques were formally handed over yesterday afternoon (06) to Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat by Chairman of the John Keells Group, Krishan Balendra, Director / Chief Executive Officer of Nations Trust Bank, Hemantha D. Gunetilleke and Chief Executive Officer of South Asia Gateway Terminals, Steen Knudsen.
Representing the wider John Keells led group of companies, Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Financial Officer of John Keells Holdings PLC, Gihan Coorey along with several members of the Board of Directors, were also present on the occasion.
