EGI Hybrid Center, a subsidiary of Laugfs Holdings Limited recently announced the latest EGI Hybrid Technology to the booming Sri Lankan automotive industry. In a bid to transform Sri Lanka’s energy consumption, EGI Hybrid brings the latest, tested, recommended and used transport fuel to local consumers.
Speaking on the introduction of EGI Technology in Sri Lanka, Chief Operating Officer of EGI Hybrid Dr.Ravi Mudalige says, “The Laugfs group has a strong presence in the energy and transport fuel sectors in Sri Lanka. With EGI Hybrid technology we are taking another pioneering step towards bringing alternative fuel to the local consumer. EGI technology is tried and tested and accepted globally for its cost effectiveness, durability and environmentally friendly factors, so we see great potential for it to succeed in the local market.”
EGI stands for Electronic Gas Injection, and is similar in functionality to the well-known EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) system used in modern day vehicles. The technical theory behind this technology is fuel hybridization by using two fuels, namely petrol and autogas. The software that is used for calibrating this hybrid system ensures the smooth function of the engine while running on autogas and petrol. The system is used by millions of motorists around the world including Queen Elizabeth II, US President Barack Obama’s federal fleet and the United States Police.
Commenting on EGI technology itself, Chartered Automobile Engineer Lal Alawatta notes, “EGI technology is the latest achievement in the alternative fuel industry. I have personally researched and experienced the technological advancement of this new innovation which is suitable for any EFI petrol car.”
Autogas is now accepted globally as the preferred alternative fuel, and many vehicle manufacturers recommend it for modern transportation. The smooth function of the system also enhances the lifetime of the engine. The inherent Octane level of 104 in autogas makes it the best option for latest petrol driven vehicles as recommended by vehicle manufacturers. By switching to EGI systems the motorists could save at least 40% on fuel cost due to the price delta between petrol and autogas. The lesser amount of carbon deposits in autogas (C4) also leads to reduce frequency of engine oil changes thereby further reducing vehicle maintenance costs. Once the EGI system is installed, there are no specific measures or procedures needed to maintain the system such as frequent tune-ups and changing air filters etc.
Another key reason behind the popularity of the EGI technology is its easy installation. Requiring no manual tuning and using a fully-automated tuning software means that installation will be completed within one working day, ensuring minimum inconvenience to the user.
In a world that is concentrating more and more on reducing carbon emissions, developing environmentally friendly technology and making the world a better place, EGI comes out on top as an eco-friendly technology that is compatible with Euro 5 emission standards. Manufactured using European technology, the EGI system is available through the EGI Hybrid Center at No: 260H, Kaduwela Road, Koswatta, Battaramulla.
