For the past several decades leadership theories and strategies have been spoken by many people across the world, and will continue unabated. When it comes to leadership it differs from person to person, as the focus goes towards passion, effective communication, courage, integrity, empathy & more.
Mental health problems due to high workload, being rejected in life and overthinking cause problems due to poor leadership. Most people start something at times and stop it abruptly due to various reasons, but consistency is something that is vital to achieve greatness.
Recently Watson Michael, CEO of the Ceylon Institute Of English & Leadership and Dewey Cooper chatted on a podcast about leadership. The podcast is available on Spotify, YouTube & some other platforms.
Dewey Cooper is a multiple-times WBA champion winning coach & is notable as former UFC champion Francis Ngannou’s coach as well. And when Francis Ngannou won the UFC World Heavyweight Championship Dewey trained. Furthermore, Dewey has been affiliated to the famous ‘Mayweather Boxing Club’ in the US as well. He has students who are currently athletes in the UFC, PFL & other promotions. He is the President of Team Combat League, a large boxing league based in the US.
During the podcast Dewey emphasized how to face negativity, how to react when you face rejection, importance of staying humble and the vitality of balancing life. “Leadership to me means a person who leads by example, who can galvanize people, motivate them and inspire them to be greater than what they were without, that what a leader is,” said Dewey via the podcast.
In this modern age with advanced technology & change in working patterns, we can see disruptive innovation taking place. Watson, whose content has been featured multiple times by LinkedIn News Asia & LinkedIn News UK mentioned “Leadership is an essential part of our lives, we make mistakes and learn lessons, but there is always room for improvement and we must look beyond our comfort zone to move forward.”
