A whopping 130 winners representing 27 export sectors of Sri Lanka will be felicitated at this Wednesday’s revived Presidential Export Awards spearheaded by the country’s apex exports facilitator EDB.
The crowning achievement for Sri Lanka’s exporters, the Presidential Export Awards, have been revived by EDB and is now scheduled to take place Wednesday 16 December at Nelum Pokuna auditorium in Colombo.
The most significant value of the Presidential Export Award is that it is presented to the award winners by His Excellency the President and issuing a certificate signed by the secretary to His Excellency the President and issuing a certificate signed by the Secretary to His Excellency the President as a symbol of its prestige and the national recognition. Joining the awards session at 16 December event with HE the President Maithripala Sirisena are Minister of Strategic Development and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, and State Minister of International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe. CEO of Brandix Lanka Ashroff Omar is also scheduled to address the gathering of achievers of Lankan exports sector.
Excitement on the awards has already started building up among the members of the exports community of Sri Lanka with many exporters striving to find out whether they are in the list –a list which was finalised after many strenuous rounds of interviews, markings and evaluations by a panel of Judges chaired by none other than a retired Supreme Court Judge, Hon Justice Hector Yapa.
The award ceremony is scheduled for next Wednesday 16 December afternoon at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Colombo 7. Among the special awards of 16 December session RE Sri Lanka Exporter of the year, highest Employment Provider in the export industry, Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter, Highest Net Foreign Exchange Earner (NFE), Best Emerging Exporter and Most Market Diversified Exporter. There shall also be 27 Product/Service Sector Awards to be conferred for best exporter in each product/services sector.
The Presidential Export Awards (PEA) was formulated by SLEDB in 1981 to recognize the contributions made by the export community for the national development by awarding highest prestigious award in the country by His Excellency the President. The PEA award symbolizes the national recognition of the individuals or enterprises excelled in export business, particularly in non-traditional products and services. It is also an incentive for the exporters to explore their skills in achieving similar accomplishments in the export business.
