Vidya Jyothi Dr. Bandula Chandranath Wijesiriwardena has been appointed as the new Chairman of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC.

Dr. Wijesiriwardena is a consultant physician in internal medicine, by profession; holds MBBS (Colombo), MD (Colombo), and MRCP (UK) degrees.

After a career in the government service of over 33 years of which 24 years as a consultant, he left the Ministry of Health to work full time in the private sector.

Currently,  he works as a consultant physician at Durdans Hospital, Colombo.

He served as a director on the board of  The Lanka Hospitals Corporation (PLC) from 27th February 2012 - 24th February 2015, and was later appointed to the Board of Durdans Medical and Surgical Hospital in 2017.

He had his education at Rahula College, Matara and Ananda College, Colombo. 

Dr. Wijesiriwardena was awarded Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, in recognition of his contribution to the field of medicine.

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and Ceylon College of Physicians (FCCP).

He was awarded the title Vidya Jyothi in 2019, in recognition of his contribution to the field of medicine.
