Leading entrepreneur Prabhash Subasinghe has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).

He replaces Indira Malwatte, who announced her resignation as the Chairperson of EDB on 19th November, ending an over four-year stint.

Prabhash is an ambitious and astute entrepreneur with a distinguished track record and diverse business interests in rubber, seafood, insurance, banking, real estate development and has become a true Asian success story at a very young age.

Currently leading a Group of Companies that have achieved rapid success on a global scale, He is a proven leader with a steadfast passion to build great businesses.

A drive to relentlessly deliver excellence in his businesses has led to his remarkable success. He is currently the Chairman of GRI (Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd.) a manufacturer of High-Performance Specialty Tires, which sells its products in over 50 countries. GRI tires are used in the material handling, construction, agriculture, and port tire sectors.

He is also the Managing Director of GSF (Global Sea Foods Pvt. Ltd.) a supplier of High-Quality Seafood that is served in famous Sushi Restaurants in Tokyo to top-tier Seafood Restaurants in Manhattan, Paris, London etc.

He is currently the Chairman of Sri Lanka Association of Manufactures of & Exporters of Rubber Products, Past President of the Sea Food Exporters Association, Board Member of the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka, Board Member of Sri Lanka Society of Rubber Industry and a Key Advisor for the Sri Lanka National Export Strategy.

He received an undergraduate degree from Cornell University.

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board, the country’s apex organisation for the promotion and development of exports, was established in 1979.
