Currently there are some 5,750 applications for loans provided under the second phase of the self-employment loan scheme for the youth who had been involved in terrorist activities and have now been rehabilitated, says the government.
The Cabinet has approved the second phase of this loan scheme with the necessary amendments to be implemented through Bank of Ceylon, People’s bank, Lanka Puthra Bank and the National Savings Bank.
Up to December 31 last year Rs. 302 million has been provided as loans under this scheme started in 2012, says the government while adding that this scheme provides the youth earlier involved in terrorist activities and by now have been rehabilitated, the economic strength to live as good citizens.
