Serbian flights to revive Mattala International Airport

A bilateral aviation agreement has been signed between Sri Lanka and Serbia.

Under this agreement Serbia’s national airline AirSerbia would be provided facilities to land at as well as for its flights to take off to other countries from the Mattala International Airport.

This is one among a series of plans by the government to increase the efficiency of this airport.

Serbia has entered into multi-lateral aviation agreements with 13 countries within the European Union, it is the highest upper-middle class income earning country in Easter Europe.

The Sri Lankan government has entered into this bilateral agreement to exploit Serbia’s aviation agreement with the other countries and develop Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
