In the event of any shortages of KIA spare parts in Sri Lanka following the damages caused by a fire at the KIA spare part stores immediate steps would be taken to overcome them, said KIA Motors Lanka Limited chief executive officer Mahen Thambiah.
A fire broke out last Monday (11 August) at the KIA spare parts store adjoining the KIA main showrooms at 297, Union Place, Colombo.
Mahen Thambiah told adaderanabiz.lk that since police are investigation into the cause of the fire the financial losses cannot be estimated right now but it is believed to be heavy.
“This fire has destroyed a lot of spare parts. Though we have another spare part store, shortages of certain spares may occur. But we are making arrangements to airlift such spares and supply them at the earliest to our customers,” added Thambiah.
KIA Motors Lanka has said it is taking steps to claim insurance for the damages caused by the fire.
