Sierra Cables PLC made a strong statement at the 2025 Export Awards organised by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE), securing two major accolades — the Gold Award in the Large Category – Electronic & Electrical Products Sector and the prestigious Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter title.
More than trophies, these awards signify validation — recognition of a Sri Lankan manufacturer competing and succeeding in some of the world’s most demanding international markets.
At the heart of this success is a standard no other local cable manufacturer holds: UL 44 certification. Sierra Cables remains the only Sri Lankan cable producer certified to this globally recognised benchmark, enabling it to supply the United States - one of the most highly regulated and quality-driven cable markets in the world. This milestone reflects not just compliance, but confidence. More importantly, the same internationally certified standards are applied to every cable manufactured for the local market, meaning Sri Lankan infrastructure is powered by products built to global expectations
Sierra’s export journey has been deliberate and strategic. Over the years, the Company has expanded its footprint across Asia, Eastern Europe, Oceania, North America, and selected African markets, steadily building credibility in regions where safety, performance, and certification are non-negotiable.
The Company continues to grow its international presence through its subsidiary, Browns Manufacturing Ltd in Zambia, and associate operations in Fiji via Cables PTE Ltd, strengthening its ability to serve regional markets and drive a robust export-oriented strategy. In Sri Lanka, T & G Lanka Pvt Ltd, a Norwegian-affiliated company specialising in electrical and fibre-optic solutions, operates as an associate, further enhancing the Group’s technical expertise. Together, these subsidiaries and associates reflect Sierra Cables’ commitment to export excellence and its sustained competitive advantage across global markets.
Behind this momentum is leadership with clarity of purpose. Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Harsha Jayatunga, has steered Sierra Cables through a period of strategic transformation, positioning the Company as a globally competitive manufacturer aligned with international standards. Today, the Sierra brand is recognised across international markets where technical credibility and consistency are essential, reflecting both the Company’s vision and its commitment to excellence.
Behind that growth lies sustained investment. Sierra’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility integrates advanced automation and precision engineering, supported by a fully equipped in-house laboratory that conducts rigorous electrical, mechanical, and fire-performance testing. From raw material validation to final dispatch, every stage is governed by strict quality control processes aligned with both national and international standards.
The Company’s specialised flame-retardant and fire-resistant cables are engineered for critical infrastructure of hospitals, airports, high-rise developments and large-scale commercial complexes, where safety cannot be compromised. Compliance with globally recognised fire-safety standards continues to strengthen Sierra’s reputation as a reliable partner in infrastructure development, both locally and abroad.
The awards were accepted on behalf of Sierra Cables PLC by Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Harsha Jayatunga, together with Chief Operating Officer Mr. Nalaka Marasinghe and DGM – Technical Support Mr. Saman Perera.
With strategic export expansion, globally recognised quality certifications, visionary leadership, and consistent operational excellence, Sierra Cables PLC is not only strengthening its global presence but also elevating Sri Lanka’s reputation as a manufacturer capable of meeting the highest international standards.
