A Strategic Policy Framework for Sri Lanka's Knowledge and Innovation Industry (IT & BPM)

SLASSCOM, the national chamber for the Knowledge and Innovation (IT&BPM) industry in Sri Lanka, recently handed over its strategic policy document titled "Igniting Knowledge, Inspiring Growth" to the country's leading presidential candidates: President Ranil Wickremasinghe Sajith Premadasa (SJB), Anura Kumara Dissanayake (NPP), and the General Secretary and representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

The document outlines a comprehensive policy framework designed to enhance the competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s IT & BPM sector. It focuses on ensuring access to skill development and education, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, and improving the overall business environment to fuel industry growth.

A Collaborative Effort for Sustainable Growth - The policy framework was developed through a consultative process, incorporating inputs from leaders of SLASSCOM member companies and other key stakeholders. It emphasizes the importance of long-term, consistent policies to drive sustainable growth in the knowledge and innovation sector.

The framework also highlights the critical role of the knowledge and innovation (IT&BPM) sector as a key contributor to Sri Lanka’s export economy. By strengthening the country’s capacity to innovate and build a globally competitive workforce, the recommendations aim to bolster foreign exchange earnings and contribute significantly to overall economic development.
