Sri Lanka has been voted as the second best country to travel to in 2020 by the readers of the up-market travel publication Conde Nast Traveler.
The Reader’s Choice Awards of the Conde Nast Traveler published in October showed that Sri Lanka has scored 93.96 points, slightly behind Italy with a score of 94.05.
Conde Nast has highlighted the variety of attractions Sri Lanka has to offer, from culture and tea plantations to its beaches.
Portugal, Japan, Greece, Thailand and South Africa made up the rest of the top 10 countries in the world for 2020.
Sri Lanka is currently closed for visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic but authorities have been talking about setting up travel bubbles.
Further, SriLankan Airlines has also been recognized as one of the world’s leading airlines in the recent Conde Nast Traveller ‘Readers' Travel awards'. The airline has been awarded the sixth place in the survey among Best International Airlines with readers commending the airline's comfy business class seats, attentive cabin crew and flavourful in-flight meals.
The factors considered in selecting winners under this category have been the health and safety measures taken up by the airlines to adopt to the new normal of travel and the marketing initiatives carried out by the airlines to gain top of mind awareness during the present scenario, etc.
The Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards survey was carried out through a secure website and this year's tabulation of results were from hundreds of thousands of respondents who submitted ratings during the period of April 01st through June 30th, 2020.
