Sri Lanka is set to take center stage as the host nation for the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Executive Committee Meeting 2025, aligning seamlessly with the government's vision to position the country as a hub for technology, innovation, and business collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region. The event, scheduled to take place from April 4th to 5th, 2025, at Hilton Colombo, will bring together key decision-makers from 17 member countries, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s status as a leading player in the regional ICT landscape.
APICTA, a non-profit, apolitical organization, represents the interests of the ICT industry across the Asia-Pacific region. Sri Lanka is represented within APICTA by BCS The Chartered Institute for IT (Sri Lanka Section) and the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS). Hosting this event is a testament to the country’s growing influence in the global digital economy and underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving ICT sector.
Hon. (Eng.) Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event stating, “We are honored to host the APICTA EXCO Meeting in 2025 and welcome our international partners to experience Sri Lanka’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. Our nation is fully committed to facilitating a world-class experience that aligns with APICTA’s objectives and our government’s vision of digital transformation. Acting Secretary for the Ministry of Digital Economy, Waruna Sri Dhanapala, emphasized the significance of this opportunity stating,“Hosting the APICTA Executive Committee Meeting affirms Sri Lanka’s commitment to fast track the gains from digital economy in an inclusive manner. This is not just an event; it is an opportunity to foster international collaborations along with a wider stakeholder engagement, attract investment, and showcase Sri Lanka as a trustworthy hub for ICT excellence in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Chairman of the Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), Indika De Zoysa, highlighting the potential impact of this event stated, “The APICTA EXCO Meeting 2025 provides an invaluable opportunity for Sri Lanka to deepen its engagement with regional ICT leaders and serves as a catalyst for growth and collaboration.
