Sri Lanka Korea Business Council Promotes Business Opportunities and Knowledge Sharing

The Sri Lanka-Korea Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently conducted a ‘Business Opportunities and Experience Sharing’ interactive session to commemorate 45 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Noting the robust bilateral partnership in many areas including economic, trade, investent, labour, cultural and education cooperation, the Chief Guest, His Excellency Santhush Woonjin Jeong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka said Korea looks forward to ‘a renewed, rejuvenated and remarkable chapter of bilateral ties for the next 45 years”.

With both countries sharing similar outward-oriented, export-led industrialization policies, he said that Korea considers Sri Lanka to be a strategic development partner country and has continuously engaged with Sri Lanka to share the knowledge and development experiences which has enabled Korea to transition from an aid recipient to a donor country.

Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to South Korea, Professor A. Saj U Mendis, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board Mr. Suresh De Mel and Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Ms. Renuka M. Weerakone were the Guest Speakers at the event.

The Korea Business Association, Korean Resident Association, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) participated at the session.
