Sri Lanka should increase its tourist arrivals target to ten million a year based on current trends without just hovering around two or three million, Mark Mobius, a top emerging markets investor said.
“Yesterday someone asked me about tourism here in Sri Lanka and i said “you know you people should not be doing 2 or 3 million a year. You should be doing 10 million a year plus,” Mobius said while addressing a forum in Colombo today (10) organized by Cinnamon life.
“The reason why I said that is because the fact that you have billion people in India. You all have a fabulous relationship with China. So the tourist potential is incredible. These people are beginning to travel more and more,” Mobius added.
As at 30 November 2019, 1,672,039 of tourists had visited Sri Lanka for this year.
