Sri Lankan economy grows 5.4% in Q3 2025

Sri Lanka’s economy expanded by 5.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, according to the latest National Accounts estimates released by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS).

At constant prices (2015 base year), Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased to Rs. 3,325.6 billion in the July–September period, compared to Rs. 3,154.1 billion in the corresponding quarter of 2024.

All major sectors recorded positive growth during the quarter, with Industrial activities expanding by 8.1 percent, followed by Agriculture at 3.6 percent and Services at 3.5 percent.

The DCS noted that improved financial activities, increased tourist arrivals, higher domestic credit expansion, and stronger performance in construction, manufacturing, and services supported overall economic growth during the quarter.
