Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Governor Mahendran resumes duties

Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Arjuna Mahendran returned to office to resume his duties this morning, said very reliable sources from the Bank.

However, when www.adaderanabiz.lk tried to contact Governor Mahendran over the phone, he replied that he was at a meeting and cut the call.

Arjuna Mahendran who was appointed Governor of the Central Bank by the new government was accused of involvement in irregularities in the recent Treasury Bonds issue. He obtained leave following the controversy and demands for a probe.

A three-member committee was appointed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to probe the controversial Treasury Bonds issue and the committee recently submitted its report stating that there were no indications of Governor Arjuna Mahendran being directly involved in the process.
