The Ministry of Defence has taken steps to acquire the Lanka Cement PLC property at Kankasenthurai. The property includes 104 acres of land and existing buildings, says Lanka Cement Chairman and Managing Director N.S.M. Samsudeen.

Lanka Cement has requested for compensation for the land and buildings and says all staff would be retired under the government sponsored voluntary retirement scheme.
