Sri Lanka’s latest Ratnapura expressway too gets Cabinet nod

The Cabinet has approved awarding the contract for providing consultancy services to carry out the feasibility studies, environmental impact assessment etc for the Ruwanpura or Ratnapura Expressway Project.

The proposed 71 kilometre Ruwanpura Expressway commences from the Kahatuduwa Interchange of the Southern Expressway and ends at Pelmadulla on the third kilometre of the Pelmadulla-Embilipitiya-Nonagama Road.

This proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Highways, Ports and Shipping to award the contract as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Consultancy Procurement Committee (CACPC) was approved by the Cabinet.

Meanwhile, the Government has given high priority for the construction of the section of the Northern Link Expressway from Enderamulla to Galewela including interchanges at Pothuhera and Rambukkana.
