Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court complex was constructed in 1989 with Chinese government assistance.
The roofs and the auditorium of the complex were completely renovated recently on the request of the Sri Lankan government. Steps were taken to refurbish the inner roofs of the Supreme Court’s ceremonial hall, fire extinguisher pipe system and its electric lifts and also the Ministry of Justice building with direct Chinese aid of Rs. 400 million.
The Chinese construction had completed the task as scheduled amidst various challenges and without causing any disturbances to the normal activities of the Supreme Court and has earned the highest appreciation from the Sri Lankan government, says the Chinese Embassy in Colombo.
