SriLankan Airlines Reroutes European Flights Due to Middle East Tensions

June, 13, 2025

SriLankan Airlines has announced changes to its European flight routes, including those to London and Paris, due to recent airspace closures in parts of the Middle East caused by escalating regional tensions.

The national carrier stated that these reroutings are essential to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. As a result, some flights are experiencing extended flight durations.

Flight UL504, operating from London to Colombo today, has been diverted to Doha for refuelling following in-flight rerouting. Meanwhile, Flight UL501 from Colombo to Paris is also being redirected to avoid the affected airspace.

Passengers are advised to expect potential delays and are encouraged to contact SriLankan Airlines for the latest updates.

The airline extended its appreciation for the patience and understanding of passengers during this period.

For assistance, passengers can reach the airline via 1979 (within Sri Lanka), +94 11 777 1979 (international), WhatsApp +94 74 444 1979 (chat only), or contact their travel agents.
