Aims to further elevate workplace safety standards and measures for its 1700+ employees

Diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings PLC (CSE: SUN) announced that the Group has further strengthened its Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) mandate. The announcement was made recently at the Sunshine Safety Forum, further underscoring the importance of safety, health, and environmental stewardship as integral components of Sunshine Holdings’ operational philosophy. Chief Guest Dr. Champika Amarasinghe, Director General of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Group CEO Shyam Sathasivam, Sunshine Holdings senior leadership, and employees attended the Sunshine Safety Forum.

Today, an EHS mandate plays a crucial role in enabling organisations to ensure the well-being of employees, minimise environmental impact, and promote a culture of safety and responsibility. Furthermore, it protects employees from workplace hazards and enhances productivity, reduces costs associated with accidents, and fosters a sustainable operational environment. The EHS mandate has introduced several modern occupational safety and health standards and practices for its 1700+ employees.

During the Sunshine Safety Forum, the new EHS logo and the safety policy were unveiled, symbolising the company’s dedication to fostering a culture of vigilance and responsibility in the workplace. The event also recognised the dedicated safety, fire, and first-aid teams representing each group company, which will oversee the implementation and adherence to the new EHS protocols. Each team was handed over with safety packs to showcase their crucial role in maintaining a safe workplace environment.
