Ritzbury powers “Ritzbury All-Island Inter School Tennis Tens”

Symbolising its unparalleled efforts to empower the budding sportsmen of the nation, Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), powered the recently held All-Island Inter School Tennis Tens in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA).

Held from 4th to 7th November 2022, the Ritzbury All-Island Inter School Tennis Tens returned after a break of two years. All matches were played at the SLTA’s Aggreko Court.

Played in three age groups – Under 7, Under 8, and Under 10, over 1,300 players from 120 schools across the Island took to the courts to display their colours and set forth on a voyage to foster and develop their future careers in professional tennis.

Ananda College hauled Gold Medals in all 3 Boys’ categories for Red ball, Orange ball and Green ball. In terms of the Girls’ categories, Jaffna Hindu Primary School emerged as the Gold Medal winner in Red ball, whereas Ladies College and Visakha Vidyalaya won the Gold Medal in Orange ball and Green ball, respectively.

Commenting on Ritzbury’s contribution, Nilupul de Silva, General Manager Marketing - CBL Foods International said “We are delighted to sponsor the Ritzbury All-Island Inter School Tennis Tens as we firmly believe that the sportsmen and women of our country should be given the right platforms to further their skills. Additionally, SLTA President Iqbal Bin Issack said, “Tournaments such as these are essential to empower the new generation of tennis players while promoting the sport of tennis across the country. Having Ritzbury as a valuable sponsor will certainly gave the tournament an additional edge in terms of visibility, ultimately ending up in the sport gaining even more traction in Sri Lanka,”

For many years, Ritzbury has been warming the taste buds of the youth with their distinctive chocolates. With the sponsorship of this sporting event, Ritzbury hopes to set up the stage for young athletes to shine and build their future. It is expected that the sponsorship of this event will continue for many years to come.

In addition to Tennis, Ritzbury is known as an active supporter of a wide range of sporting events in Sri Lanka including the Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival, Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Athletics Championship, Vidudaya Ritzbury Swimming Championship and the Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship.

Nevindu and Chanithma stars of Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship 2022

Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), concluded the 33rd Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship 2022, last week.

With the final match being held at the SSC Squash Courts in Colombo, over 300 players representing schools including the top-ranked junior players in Under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 age groups participated in the championship.

Speaking on Ritzbury’s contribution towards National Squash Championship, Nilupul de Silva, General Manager Marketing - CBL Foods International said “Over the years, we have understood the importance of developing Squash as a promising National sport in Sri Lanka. We take great pride in the fact that our efforts have led to local players entering the international arena and our sponsorship of this championship will continue for many years to come. Ritzbury has a proud 16-year long history of supporting sports in Sri Lanka, as we consider our athletes a National pride.”

Nevindu Lakman of D.S. Senanayake College and Chanithma Sinaly of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya emerged as the Under 19 Boys and Girls champions respectively. The duo also clinched the Junior National Boys and Girls player of the year award.

Meanwhile, the Most Promising Boy Player of the Year award was secured by Mohamed Rilwan of St. Joseph's College, Maradana and Punsara Nirushi Wickramasinghe of Anula Vidyalaya took home the Most Promising Girl Player of the Year award.

Showcasing the company’s resolute commitment to developing and promoting squash nationwide, Riztbury has continuously partnered with Sri Lanka Squash (SLS) to organise the Championship for the 14th consecutive year. Commenting on the partnership Suren Kohobange, President - SLS said, “We appreciate Ritzbury for being our partner of success for the past decade and it drives Squash as a sport to a greater level. As each year, we believe that this partnership did uplift the talent of Squash in the country.”

Recognised as a major event in the game’s annual calendar, several talented players have now emerged from various zones in the country. This is a strong reflection of Ritzbury’s efforts to progress the sport and ensure that it is promoted district-wise, enabling more participation from players.

Ritzbury powers Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival

Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), is empowering the much-anticipated ‘Ritzbury Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival 2022’ for the 2nd consecutive year. This initiative is an extension of the local brand’s commitment to support the skills development of the nation’s budding sports talent pool.

Taking place for the 12th consecutive year, this year’s Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival will see a total of 112 teams from 23 schools participating in Under 10 and Under 12 categories. The first three rounds of the carnival were already held at the Royal College Sports Complex and will be followed by on the 02nd October, respectively.

It is noteworthy that the carnival aims to develop the game of rugby and create opportunities for up-and-coming ruggerites to showcase their skills in a fun and competitive environment. As an encouragement to all players to participate in a sport that epitomises hard work, dedication and true sportsmanship, the carnival does not declare a champion.

Speaking on Ritzbury’s contribution towards Rugby carnival, Nilupul de Silva, General Manager Marketing - CBL Foods International said, “Hosting this event is yet another step in our journey of nurturing the next generation of sportsmen in Sri Lanka. Ritzbury has always remained committed towards developing sports among the very capable youth of our nation. Commenting about the event, Shahid Sangani, Secretary – Organising Committee said, “The Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival is proud to partner up with Ritzbury for the 2nd consecutive year and we believe that this partnership would uplift the junior Rugby talent in Sri Lanka. This year we have a total of 112 teams taking part in the carnival with the representation of 23 different schools, marking a huge success for this event”.

Given that rugby is a popular sport in Sri Lanka with high spectator engagement, Ritzbury is confident that its position as a market leader in the Sri Lankan chocolate industry will ensure a successful and exciting event this year as well.

In addition to rugby, Ritzbury is known as an active supporter of a wide range of sporting events in Sri Lanka including the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Athletics Championship, Vidudaya Ritzbury Swimming Championship, Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship, and the SLTA Tennis Tens All Island School Kids Tennis Play Day.
