The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will conduct a seminar titled “Sharp Insights on the Economic Outlook - BREXIT + IMF + 2H 2016,” amidst a backdrop of an uncertain global economy, mixed views on the impact of Brexit, and questions around how the IMF package would influence Sri Lanka’s macro trajectory.

The seminar to be held on Friday, 22nd July, 2016 at the Chamber auditorium, starting at 9 am will bring cutting-edge insights to understand how the latest developments in the economy will impact businesses.

The seminar will be addressed by Mr. Shiran Fernando, Lead Economist and Senior Product Head of Frontier Research, Mr. Danushka Samarasinghe, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Research at Softlogic Stockbrokers and Ms. Subhashini Abeysinghe, Senior Analyst and Head of Economics of Verite Research. The trio will also take part in a panel discussion, which would be chaired by Mr. Anushka Wijesinha, Chief Economist of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The topics that will come under discussion are, how the IMF programme would influence interest rates and tax policy, whether Brexit would impact Sri Lanka’s foreign borrowings, tourism and exports, what macro policy is likely to look like in the second half of 2016, and how all this mean for the equities and sectors.
