The Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development has initiated discussions on the Industry Recovery Foster Program (IRFP) and the Industry Development Foster Program (IDFP) to expedite the revival of large scale manufacturing industries affected by Cyclone “Ditwah”.
The discussion, held recently at the Ministry, brought together leading Sri Lankan corporates under a public-private partnership framework, including Toyota Lanka, Tokyo Cement, MAS Holdings, Brandix Lanka, Aitken Spences, Expo Lanka Holdings, John Keels Holdings, Ceylon Agro Industries, The Disel and Motors Engineering, Unliver Srianka, Prima Ceylon, Nestle Lanka, Hemas Holdings, Browns, CBL, Cargills
Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, stated that priority has been given to institutions with strong production, engineering and logistics capabilities, and expressed appreciation for the private sector’s support during this national recovery effort.
Under this initiative, technical and management assistance will be provided to restart medium and large-scale industries. The recovery framework will be operational within 30 days, with an operational committee commencing work next week.
The Ministry has already launched a data collection mechanism to identify affected Business. As of now, 16,476 inquiries have been received, including 6,688 micro, 5,625 small, 3,642 medium, and 521 large-scale enterprises.
Affected businesses are requested to submit their details via www.industry.gov.lk or contact 071 266 6660 before 2.00 PM on December 16.
