Tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka – China, India still in the lead

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in June this year has grown by 12 per cent with the arrival of 115,467 tourists as compared to June of last year.

Latest government data shows that arrivals from China and India have shown a significant growth.

Meanwhile, during the six months up to June this year tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have grown by 14.1 per cent with 830,051 arrivals.

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka from India has grown by 19.5 per cent last June with 36,972 arrivals while tourists arrivals from East Asia have grown by 19 per cent to 26,217 with the growth of arrivals from China and Hong Kong.

The traditional arrivals from West European countries have been 256,567 up to June this year, which is a growth of 15 per cent.
