It has been revealed the damaged caused to the buoy used to transport fuel from sea to land cannot be repaired during the prevailing weather.
Commenting on this to AdaderanaBiz.lk, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) chairman Sirisena Amarasekera said that the prevailing rainy weather obstructs any repairs of this kind. As an alternative they plan to transport fuel to land from the tankers by smaller ships.
The buoy used in transporting fuel to land from the tankers at sea is damaged and discussions are being held with the Italian company from which it was purchased and the manufacturers of the buoy.
There are two fuel tankers already anchored at the Colombo harbor and another is to arrive in a few days.
“It is now being explored whether the demurrage for the delays caused to the ships could be paid through insurance, said Sirisena Amarasekera.
