Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, Sri Lanka’s leading Jewellery Store, recently distributed dry rations to 300 low income families in Wellawatta. This is a continuation of its much lauded corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The initiative was carried out with the assistance of Wellawatta police station, Colombo-East Rotary Club and LIC Lanka Limited. Grama Niladaris and officers of the Wellawatta police station assisted in identifying those who are worthy of the donations.
Mr. A. P. Jayarajah, the CEO of Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, said that everyone must carry out social responsibility initiatives to the best of their abilities. Mr. Jayarajah said that helping each other, cooperation and standing by each other at times of difficulty, helps the blossoming of human relations and help build a better society. The OIC of the Wellawatta police station who also took part in the event said that sharing what one is bestowed with others, is a commendable action. Staff of Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, former head of the Colombo-East Rotary Club, Mr. Saifudeen, LIC Lanka Limited's Mr. Rajni Kanth and a number of others took part in the event that took place at the premises of Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery. The company carries out a number of corporate social responsibility initiatives each year and these often include providing drinking water facilities, beach cleanups and blood donation campaigns.
