DPMC unveils brand new Bajaj Pulsar N160: where power meets precision

December, 6, 2024

David Pieris Motor Company (Lanka) Limited (DPMC) proudly announces the launch of the Bajaj Pulsar N160, the third motorcycle model produced under the Local Value Addition (LVA) programme. This launch marks a significant milestone as the Pulsar N160 becomes the first brand-new sports bike in its segment introduced in Sri Lanka while prevailing 2020 import restrictions. DPMC extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Industries for introducing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for vehicle production in Sri Lanka under the LVA programme.

DPMC, an industry leader in manufacturing motorcycles under the LVA programme, previously introduced the Bajaj CT 100 and Discover 125 models. By leveraging the LVA initiative, DPMC not only delivers high-quality motorcycles to Sri Lankan consumers but also supports the growth of local industries.

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 sets new benchmarks in the motorcycle segment with its state-of-the-art features, including: Dual Channel ABS, ensuring superior braking performance and safety, BI functional LED Headlight, providing enhanced visibility and a modern aesthetic and All-New Design, offering an upgraded appearance that appeals to sports bike enthusiasts.

Apart from the main launch at the DPMC Head Office in Battaramulla, the islandwide launch of the Pulsar N160 is being conducted simultaneously at seven DPMC regional offices, ensuring widespread availability and accessibility for customers across Sri Lanka.

Currently, DPMC collaborates with seven local manufacturers to produce 26 components for the Pulsar N160 in addition to 60 components for both CT100 and Discover 125. These components are developed in compliance with Bajaj’s stringent guidelines and standards, fostering technical knowledge transfer to Sri Lankan small and medium-scale industrialists.

Mr. Lakmal de Silva, General Manager (Vehicle Sales), DPMC, highlighted the success of the LVA programme, stating, “We have already produced over 40,000 motorcycles under the LVA programme in Sri Lanka. The Pulsar N160 is poised to continue this legacy, achieving strong acceptance and success among Sri Lankan bike enthusiasts.”

The Bajaj Pulsar N160’s launch reinforces DPMC’s commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality motorcycles while supporting local industries and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.

DPMC’s extensive network of over 1,500 Sales, Parts & Accessories and Service Dealers ensures unparalleled accessibility and service for customers. The Bajaj Pulsar brand remains the most popular motorcycle among Sri Lankan youth and other riders, as evidenced by the thriving Pulsar Club, an active community celebrating nearly a decade of camaraderie and passion.
