Ruhunu Hospital Celebrates 30 Years of Excellence

Ruhunu Hospital, the largest private-sector hospital provider in the Southern Province, proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary this February 2025. Established in 1995, the hospital has continuously evolved to meet the healthcare needs of the community.

Over the past three decades, Ruhunu Hospital has significantly expanded its services. Today, it features nearly 100 inpatient rooms, more than 150 specialized medical consultants, 30 specialized units/centers, a state-of-the-art MRI center, a fully equipped Cath Lab, a nine-bed ICU and HDU, a four-operating-theater complex, and the largest laboratory chain in the Southern Province, with over 500 collection centers.

In 2021, Ruhunu Hospital opened its first strategic Primary Care Center in Matara, with plans to expand it into a Secondary Care Hospital in the near future.

A few years ago, the hospital was recognized for having the most luxurious hospital suite in Sri Lanka, the King’s Court and Presidential Suite.

Chief Executive Officer Raveen Wickramasinghe highlighted the hospital’s future direction, focusing on upcoming investments in medical technology, digital healthcare solutions, and service enhancements to further elevate the patient experience. He also stressed the importance of strategically positioning Ruhunu Hospital for the years ahead.
