Sri Lanka to open domestic Airports for the Operation of the Regional Commercial Flights

During the Past several years, the Government has taken a series of measures to improve the domestic aviation. Consequently, action has been taken to develop the Batticaloa Airport and to enhance civil aviation facilities at Ratmalana Airport while steps are being taken to improve the Palali Airport.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation, to instruct the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka to perform certification of aerodromes for the commencement of Regional Air Service operations in conformity with the applicable standards to foreign destinations and to prepare the border control formalities to discharge their legitimate functions at such Airports, was approved by the Cabinet.
