TRI-ZEN by John Keells Properties Celebrates Completion as the Largest Residential Development in the Heart of Colombo

March, 5, 2025

John Keells Properties and Indra Traders hosted an event on the 28th of February 2025 to mark the successful completion of TRI-ZEN, the largest residential development in the heart of Colombo. Situated in Union Place, Colombo 2, TRI-ZEN is an 897-unit apartment complex designed to redefine urban living by seamlessly blending technology, accessibility, and contemporary design. This highly anticipated occasion brought together the project’s stakeholders and members of the media to celebrate the completion of this highly ambitious venture.

A special ceremony, held to mark the completion, was attended by notable dignitaries, including Indra Silva (Chairman of Indra Traders), Rushanka Silva (Managing Director of Indra Traders), Nayana Mawilmada (President of the Property Sector at John Keells Group), Inoke Perera (Sector Head of John Keells Properties and Executive Vice President at John Keells Group), and key representatives from the media. The event took place at TRI-ZEN’s rooftop on the 52nd floor, where the ceremony began with a special message from Nayana Mawilmada, Rushanka Silva and Nadeem Shums.

Nayana Mawilmada – President of the Property Sector of John Keells Group commented saying, “TRI-ZEN is more than just a residential development; it is a bold redefinition of what it means to live in the heart of Colombo. From the very beginning in 2019, our ambition was clear - to envision the future of urban living and build for it. Today, as we stand here, we can proudly say that this vision has become a reality. The world we imagined then is the one we live in now.

This journey, however, was not undertaken alone. The success of TRI-ZEN is a testament to the resilience and dedication of an incredible team - from our architects and contractors to the tireless efforts of our teams at John Keells Properties. Their commitment has been the driving force behind this project.

This occasion is a moment to celebrate the completion of TRI-ZEN - a development that is already home to tenants and residents who now experience the unparalleled lifestyle we set out to create. It is a proud milestone for all of us as we stand in what is now the largest residential development in Central Colombo, a landmark that has reshaped the city’s skyline and set a new standard for apartment living. This is more than a building - it is a new frontier for modern urban living.”

Rushanka Silva – Managing Director of Indra Traders added, “Today, we gather to celebrate a milestone that stands as a testament to resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment. We are here to unveil TRI-ZEN, an illustrious apartment complex with 897 units, right in the heart of Colombo - a beacon of what collaboration can achieve.

TRI-ZEN’s journey was far from smooth. Weathering the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic, and navigating through Sri Lanka's economic challenges, we faced and overcame adversity. Today, we stand proud, having engineered and developed the largest apartment project in Colombo's core, with over 500 handovers to date.

This remarkable project has its roots in our rich history. Indra Traders, a pioneering force in Sri Lanka's motor vehicle industry for over 50 years, owned this precious land, a brainchild of our founder, Mr. Indra Silva. By joining forces with John Keells Properties, we transformed vision into reality, erecting three majestic towers, each home to dreams, aspirations, and the promise of a vibrant Colombo living experience.

Despite the hurdles, TRI-ZEN stands as a rare opportunity offering one, two, and three-bedroomed units at competitive prices and is a symbol of what's possible when dedication meets innovation. This collaboration with John Keells Properties was forged through shared values. I must extend my gratitude to Mr. Krishan Balendra, Chairperson of John Keells Group, and the TRI-ZEN Apartments Board. Your guidance, wisdom, and commitment have been pivotal.

My admiration and appreciation go out to Mr Indra Silva whose vision has translated into reality today with the unveiling of this project. In closing, let us celebrate TRI-ZEN, a symbol of strength, the fruit of perseverance, and a beacon for Colombo's future.”

Nadeem Shums – Head of Sales and Marketing for John Keells Properties and Vice President of John Keells Group stated, “From its prime location in downtown Colombo to its seamless integration of smart technology, TRI-ZEN redefines urban living. Designed to foster a vibrant community, it offers an array of amenities catering to the entire family including a rooftop cinema, a state-of-the-art games room, multiple functions rooms, two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a rooftop badminton court and a 1/2km jogging track. TRI-ZEN will also have an in-house laundry, housekeeping services and a cafe.

Its location is another key advantage - just steps away from top hotels, restaurants, cafés, nightlife, supermarkets, and cinemas, ensuring convenience at every turn.

One of TRI-ZEN’s standout features is its efficient design. With thoughtfully optimized layouts in its 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, residents enjoy maximum space utilization without compromising on comfort. Furthermore, TRI-ZEN remains one of the few developments in Colombo that continues to offer competitively priced units - an opportunity that is becoming increasingly rare in the market.”

TRI-ZEN is an 897-unit apartment complex located in the heart of Union Place, Colombo 2. It’s a project built from the ground up for smart tech integration featuring efficiently designed spaces, multiple amenities and value-added services.
