100 Japanese investors meet Sri Lankan companies

Finance and Plan Implementation Deputy Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama and Investments Promotion Deputy Minister Faizer Musthapha attended an investment forum today (13 June) at Osaka in Japan to raise awareness among Japanese investors on opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Investments Promotion Deputy Minister Faizer Musthapha told AdaderanaBiz.lk that some 100 Japanese investors and around 25 representatives from Sri Lankan companies attended this first ever investors’ forum held jointly by Osaka and Sri Lanka. The main aspect of this forum is to make Sri Lanka the commercial hub in Asia and also attract more investors from Japan to Sri Lanka.

“At this forum we told the Japanese investors that there are several investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. We pointed out the availability of opportunities particularly in the fisheries and technology sectors. We also explained to them Sri Lanka’s development in infrastructure, peace, manpower availability etc,” said Deputy Minister Faizer Musthapha.

He added that at this forum held at the City Plaza Hotel at Osaka in Japan, the Sri Lankan representatives and the Japanese investors exchanged views and the Japanese showed keen interest on investing in Sri Lanka.
