The Egyptian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives, H E Maged Mosleh paid a courtesy call to the State Minister of Investment Promotion, Mr. Dilum Amunugama.
In this meeting, the matters to be done by both parties regarding the expansion of bilateral trade and investment opportunities between Egypt and Sri Lanka were widely discussed. Egypt is the 50th export destination. Sri Lanka’s main export products to Egypt are Desiccated Coconut, Tea, Pneumatic and retreated Rubber Tires and tubes, Knitted Fabrics, Woven Fabrics, Men's Apparels Transport Equipment, Desiccated Coconut and Cartons, Boxes, and paper related products
Recently a significant group of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs have invested in Egypt and attention was paid to develop it further. It was discussed to expand the opportunities for development in trade, investment, and other areas, and it was also agreed to work so that both parties get equal benefits through the economic growth of the two countries. Further from the Egyptian investors' perspective, the Ambassador also pointed out the eastern province as an attractive destination for tourism sector investments.
Sri Lanka Board of Investment Director General Mrs. Renuka Weerakoon also participated in this meeting.
