Van prices to drop through up-coming budget?

October, 9, 2015

The Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers’ Association has put forward a series of proposals to the Finance Ministry for the preparation the 2016 Budget with one of the proposals being the reduction of the Customs levy on vans.

This states that currently the Customs duties on lorries and vans are very high though these vehicles greatly contribute towards the country’s development through cargo transport and in the tourism sector and hence essential.

The Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers’ Association has requested that due to these reasons the government should consider reducing the levies on these vehicles.

The Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers’ Association comprises 339 medium and small scale importers of vehicles into Sri Lanka.
