Sri Lanka is ranked first among South Asian countries in the annual Prosperity Index 2015 released by the Legatum Institute of London.

According to this index ranked while taking into consideration 142 countries world-wide, Sri Lanka is ranked 61^st while Nepal is 89^th, India 99^th, Bangladesh 103^rd, Pakistan 130^th and Afghanistan 141^st etc.

This index is prepared according to the economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, health, safety and security, personal freedom and social capital.

Norway is ranked first in this Prosperity Index while down the order are Switzerland, Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden.
