A group of children in the scenic coastal town of Arayampathy in Batticaloa will start the new school year with a new classroom, thanks to the generosity of Ceylinco Life.
Sri Lanka’s life insurance leader funded the construction of a building for the Aesthetics classroom of the Sri Vinayagar Vidyalaya, Thalankudah, Arayampathy. This is the 89th such classroom donated by the Company to a school in Sri Lanka.
The school has 454 students in grades one to the GCE Advanced Level, and a teaching staff of 32. It had only one building in good condition when Ceylinco Life came forward to help.
Despite the challenges of inadequate facilities, the school has maintained its quality of education, leading to children from the nearby towns of Manmunai, Madurapuram, Fathimapuram and Vedarkudiyirippu attending classes.
Every classroom built by Ceylinco Life under its long-running corporate social responsibility initiative continues to be monitored and maintained by the Company to ensure it serves many generations of students.
Commencing with a classroom built for the Tissa Primary School in Lunugamvehera in 2004, Ceylinco Life’s schools infrastructure project has traversed the length and breadth of Sri Lanka, assisting schools in diverse locations such as Jaffna, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Muttur, Batticaloa, Sittandy, Mollipatana, Ayithyamalai, Embilipitiya, Nivithigala, Beligala, Avissawella, Deniyaya, Kamburupitiya, Bandarawela, Haputale, Rambukkana, Kandy, Pilimatalawa, Madulkele, Rikillagaskada, Rajawella, Matale, Galgamuwa, Padaviya, Boraluwewa, Anuradhapura, Moneragala, Anamaduwa, Matugama, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Wellawaya, Talawa, Chilaw, Galagedara, Rathkarawwa, Hatton, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Welimada, Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Matugama, Elpitiya, Kegalle, Sevanagala, Horana and Balangoda.
