Remittances in 2025 surge to over US$ 1.12 bn, driven by February’s US$ 548.1 mn

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced that the country received US$ 548.1 million in workers' remittances during February 2025.

According to the Central Bank’s Weekly Economic Indicators Report, the total remittance inflow for the first two months of 2025 amounted to US$ 1,121.1 million (US$ 1.12 billion). This marks a 16.3% increase compared to the US$ 963.7 million received during the same period in 2024.

For the entire year of 2024, Sri Lanka recorded a total of US$ 6.57 billion in workers' remittances.
