The airport authorities in Chennai have received requests from national carrier Air India to operate flights Sunday after the AAI announced day-time operations of passenger flights from the airport, says ‘The Indian Express’.
Schools and colleges in Chennai will remain shut tomorrow (Monday) due to heavy rains in the capital city. The Indian Meteorological Department, Chennai has forecast rainfall in the next 24 hours in the city.
Meanwhile, day time commercial flights from Chennai began Sunday with the first Air India flight to Port Blair taking off in the morning. An Air India flight from Delhi also landed in the afternoon. This is the first service after operations were stopped in the wake of rains.
Chennai city and suburbs on Saturday battled hard to pick up pieces of life but occasional heavy rains threatened to revive the ghost of flooding as lakhs of people in the worst-hit areas faced acute short supply of essentials including water, power, milk and food items. (Pic. Courtesy NDTV)
