The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) & Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan, proudly announces the successful completion of Sri Lanka’s participation at Japan IT Week Spring 2025, held from April 23–25 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.
Under the vibrant "Sri Lanka Pavilion," ten leading Sri Lankan ICT companies showcased cutting-edge innovations spanning AI, IoT, software development, and IT services. Their presence attracted strong attention from global investors, technology leaders, and business partners, positioning Sri Lanka firmly on the international tech map.
The participation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between EDB and JICA, launched in 2024 to strengthen Sri Lanka’s ICT sector presence in Japan. The JICA Programme supports 30 ICT/BPM companies, including SMEs and startups, through tailored business coaching, strategic market intelligence, and targeted matchmaking with Japanese partners. Ten out of the 30 companies were selected for participation in 2025.

Sri Lankan companies participated in a meeting with the Japan Embedded Systems Technology Association, gaining valuable insights into Japan’s embedded systems market and exploring collaboration opportunities.
During their visit to JETRO’s Tokyo headquarters, Sri Lankan companies attended a session focused on promoting foreign business investment in Japan. The session included an overview of JETRO’s business matching platforms and the range of support services available to foreign companies.
Co-organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, the Export Development Board (EDB) and the Minato City Industrial Promotion Center as a partner event of Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025, this networking session provided Sri Lankan companies with an opportunity to connect with potential Japanese business partners.

Sri Lankan companies took part in the "Japan-Sri Lanka IT Business Networking Event" an important platform to meet prospective clients and collaborators. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, the Export Development Board (EDB), and the Minato City Industrial Promotion Center.
Sri Lankan participants visited the Tokyo Innovation Hub, gaining firsthand exposure to Japan’s dynamic innovation and startup ecosystem.
Participation at Japan IT Week Spring 2025
From April 23rd –25th , the ten Sri Lankan companies actively participated in Japan IT Week 2025 under the "Sri Lanka Pavilion" facilitated by JICA. The companies engaged with large number of visitors, presenting their innovative solutions and securing promising leads and partnerships that pave the way for future business expansion in Japan.
Strengthening Sri Lanka-Japan ICT Collaboration
This participation at one of Asia’s most prominent technology exhibitions has not only expanded the international footprint of Sri Lanka’s ICT sector but also reinforced bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Japan in the digital economy.
