Sri Lanka Eeconomic Forum opens in Colombo on 7 January

The ‘Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016’ under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be held in Colombo from 07 to 08 January. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s plans for Sri Lanka to reach economic prosperity by 2023 are to be unveiled during this forum.

Pioneer and chairman of ‘The Open Society’ and international investor George Soros, Nobel Prize winner for economics Prof. Joseph E. Stiglitz and Harvard University’s International Development Centre’s Director Ricardo Hausmann are to participate at this forum, the organizers have confirmed on the forum’s website www.srilankaeconomicforum.org/

According to a study conducted by the Harvard University’s International Development Centre, for main sectors have been identified for Sri Lanka’s long-term development. These are macro-economic and fiscal stability, structural transformation and competitiveness, urbanization and development and zonal development and social inclusion.

This economic forum has been organized under these themes and special persons of international fame are expected to attend and exchange their visions.
