Strengthening leadership capacity for two of Prime Group’s most strategic ventures, Dr. Saman Mahawatta has been appointed as Director/Chief Executive Officer of Prime Constructions (Pvt) Ltd (PCL). In addition, he will be seconded as Chief Executive Officer of Prime – Melwa Port City (Pvt) Ltd.

Dr. Mahawatta carries three decades of distinguished expertise in the construction and development sectors, with a proven track record of delivering landmark projects in Sri Lanka and internationally. His career includes senior leadership roles at Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, where he successfully led multidisciplinary teams and guided major infrastructure projects, earning widespread national and global recognition.

With this appointment, Prime Group reiterates the commitment to growth, innovation, and leadership, positioning Prime Constructions and Prime – Melwa Port City as dynamic forces shaping Sri Lanka’s built environment and global real estate future.

Academically and professionally, Dr. Mahawatta holds an outstanding portfolio including a PhD in Construction Management, three First‑Class Honours Degrees in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Business Administration, and three Master’s Degrees in Project Management, Construction Law, and Business Administration (Finance).

Dr. Mahawatta is also a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Civil Engineer, PMP Certified Project Manager, Six Sigma Practitioner, and Green Accredited Professional. His memberships and fellowships command 16 prestigious national and worldwide professional institutions. His expertise covers project management, development and investment appraisal, buildability and value engineering, and sustainable construction and green auditing, establishing him as a trailblazer in modern infrastructure development.

Complementing career milestones and professional achievements, Dr. Mahawatta has made significant contribution to academia, industry practice, and social service, receiving acclaim for a longstanding commitment and service to Sri Lanka.

Prime Constructions (Pvt) Ltd, the construction arm of Prime Group, was established in April 2023.
