National Development Bank PLC (NDB) has disclosed that an interim report submitted by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP has identified suspicious transactions amounting to approximately Rs. 13.57 billion in connection with the ongoing forensic investigation into a fraud incident reported by the bank.
In a corporate disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange on June 26, NDB said it had received the interim report from Deloitte, which was appointed to conduct a forensic review of the fraud incident previously disclosed by the bank. The bank noted that the observations contained in the report are preliminary and indicative in nature, and that the report remains confidential under the terms of engagement.
According to the disclosure, Deloitte's examination conducted thus far has identified the value of the suspicious transactions at Rs. 13,579,664,684. The bank stated that further disclosures would be made as appropriate.
