Sri Lankan Rupee Falls 8% Against US Dollar in First Half of 2026

The Sri Lankan rupee has depreciated by 8.0 percent against the United States dollar so far in 2026, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

The CBSL, in its latest Weekly Economic Indicators report, stated that the rupee had recorded an 8.0 percent depreciation against the US dollar during the period up to June 26, 2026.

According to the Central Bank's daily exchange rate report, as of Friday (June 26), the buying rate for the US dollar stood at Rs. 332.22, while the selling rate was recorded at Rs. 341.88.
