Minister Sunil Handunnetti Inaugurates Intex–InMac Sri Lanka 2026 at BMICH

Intex–InMac Sri Lanka, South Asia's premier international textile sourcing and garment manufacturing technology exhibition, was officially inaugurated today (05) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, by Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, Government of Sri Lanka, along with Mr. Yasas Hewage, Chairman, Industrial Development Board (IDB); Mr. Felix Fernando, Chairman, Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF); and senior government officials, ambassadors, industry leaders, business chambers, trade associations, exhibitors and international buyer delegations.

Following the inauguration, the dignitaries toured the exhibition halls and officially opened the Incredible Textiles of India Pavilion, one of the major international attractions of this year's exhibition, showcasing India's diverse textile capabilities and innovations.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Sunil Handunnetti said, "Competitiveness is driven not by capacity alone, but by innovation and adaptability. Intex 2026 provides the platform for the industry to embrace these strengths and compete successfully in the global marketplace."

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Yasas Hewage, Chairman of the Industrial Development Board (IDB), said the IDB is setting the platform for Sri Lanka's industrial transformation by promoting innovation, strengthening local industries, and creating opportunities for growth.

Held from 5–7 August 2026, Intex–InMac Sri Lanka brings together over 250 exhibitors from more than 15 countries and regions, making it the largest international textile sourcing and garment technology platform in Sri Lanka.
