Sierra Cables to Double Export Capacity with USD 3.2M Capital Investment

August, 21, 2026

Sierra Cables PLC has officially announced a major capital investment of USD 3,229,760 aimed at expanding its export production capacity. The strategic move comes in response to sustained, robust demand for the company's products in overseas markets.

In a formal corporate disclosure submitted to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), the company revealed that its Board of Directors has approved the allocation of funds to acquire new machinery and upgrade its industrial infrastructure. The filing was made pursuant to Appendix 8A of the Listing Rules of the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The massive capacity expansion project is designed to address the growing international appetite for Sierra Cables' offerings. According to the company's disclosure, the capital expenditure is projected to approximately double its existing export production capacity, giving the manufacturer significantly greater scope to service international clients and aggressively scale its global export footprint.

The physical implementation of the capacity expansion programme is expected to be completed by the end of the 2026/27 financial year. Management has targeted April 1, 2027, the commencement of the 2027/28 financial year, for the upgraded infrastructure and machinery to become fully operational commercially.

The announcement highlights Sierra Cables' focus on captured overseas demand as a key growth driver. By doubling its production capabilities, the company is positioning itself to secure a larger share of the international cable and wire market, capitalizing on its current momentum.
